The Ugly Truth
“Media and drugs. Too bloody obvious. You would be surprised what sorts of junkies the corporate world hides” My friend is a hot shot corporate banker in Mumbai. He is also recently out of rehab. What he said about the ‘junkies’ of the corporate sector was quite an insight.
While the fashion industry and the media gain notoriety for being drug zones; the corporate sector runs a parallel, underground cult which is increasing in numbers everyday. The drug habit in the corporate sector is far more subtle and mechanized. The drug of choice is usually weed or hash. Heroine and Cocaine are harder to acquire and thus usually restricted to the ‘big fish’. Nobody really mentions it and the users restrict themselves to smaller groups. In the rare case where people from different organizations do drugs together, they usually never mention it again. Maintaining secrecy is of prime importance, no harm should come to the image of the corporate sector.
Quite an insight I must say. As for me, I am happy to see my friend out of rehab, scared though, to let him back into the same environment that almost ruined his life.
